This is a simplified estimate for healthy adults, not a promise or medical advice. Real progress is rarely a straight line. This is an estimate for general information only, not medical advice.

What This Timeline Shows

This tool answers a simple question: at a steady pace, about how long might it take to reach a goal weight? You give your details, your goal, and either a weekly pace or a daily calorie deficit. You get an estimated date, a simple chart, and the calories that the pace would mean each day.

It is meant to help you plan, and perhaps to set expectations. It isn’t a promise, and a date that passes without the goal being reached doesn’t mean that anything has gone wrong.

How the Estimate Works

The tool takes 7,700 kcal as equal to about 1 kg of body weight, which is a common rule of thumb. A daily deficit of 550 kcal then comes to about 0.5 kg a week. Your daily need comes from your age, height, weight, sex, and activity, using the same equation as the calorie calculator.

Two limits keep the plan sensible. The pace can’t go above 1 kg a week. Your calories also never go below your resting energy needs, or below a fixed minimum. If a pace would break either limit, the tool uses a slower one and says so.

Why Real Progress Looks Different

Bodies don’t follow straight lines. As you get lighter, you need a little less energy, so the same food creates a smaller deficit. Water, salt, your cycle, and sleep can all move the scale by a kilo or more within a few days.

So it helps to watch the trend over several weeks rather than any single morning. A slower stretch is common, and it doesn’t mean that your effort has stopped working.

Using This Well

Pick a pace you could keep up on an ordinary week, including festivals, family meals, and busy days. A goal that takes a few months longer but stays with you is usually worth more than a fast drop that comes back.

If you would like a plan that fits your health, your food, and your routine, a consultation can help you build one. It is also worth speaking with a doctor first if you have a medical condition or take regular medicine.

Questions About Weight-Loss Timelines

Clear Answers, No Jargon

How accurate is the date?

Treat it as a rough guide. The sum assumes that you lose weight in a straight line, which rarely happens. Weight moves up and down from day to day, and loss usually slows as you get lighter.

What pace should I choose?

This tool offers 0.25, 0.5, and 0.75 kg a week, and won't go past 1 kg a week. A slower pace often feels easier to keep up. If you have a health condition, please ask your doctor what suits you.

Why did my pace change?

The tool never lets your calories go below your resting energy needs, or below 1,500 kcal for men and 1,200 kcal for women. If your pace would need less than that, it slows the pace and tells you.

Why won't it show a date for my goal?

A goal that gives a BMI under 18.5 is below the healthy range, so the tool shows a message instead of a date. It does the same if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
