Frequently Asked Questions

Learn How It Works!

Do I have to avoid cabbage, cauliflower, or soy?

Most people do not. Normal amounts in a varied diet, especially when cooked, are generally fine. We can look at your diet if you eat large amounts of them or are low in iodine.

When should I take my thyroid medication?

Follow your doctor's instructions. Levothyroxine is usually taken on an empty stomach, and foods or supplements such as coffee, calcium, and iron can affect how well it is absorbed, so we plan your morning routine around it.

Should I take iodine or other supplements?

Not unless you have been advised to. Too much iodine can also cause thyroid problems. Iodised salt in normal amounts is usually enough for most people.

Will food fix my thyroid?

Food cannot replace thyroid treatment, but it can support your overall health and how you feel day to day. Please do not change your dose without your doctor.
